Everything you want to know before booking a Clarity Call.
If you've read through the coaching page and the AI Competencies framework and you still have questions, the answer is probably here. If it isn't, the Clarity Call is the right next step — that conversation exists to surface exactly the things a FAQ can't anticipate.
ABOUT THE COACHING APPROACH
What does the Clarity Call actually look like?
It's a structured conversation, not a sales call. Before it happens, you'll complete a short intake form covering your current AI usage, what you've tried, where the ceiling is, and what you're building toward. The call itself uses that information to design the engagement that's right for your situation — sometimes that's an obvious fit to one of the named engagements; sometimes it's a configured version of one; occasionally it's something else entirely. You leave with a specific recommendation and a clear picture of what the engagement would involve. No pressure applied during the call. If it makes sense, we both know it.
How do I know which engagement is right for me?
Read the pain point beneath each offer name on the coaching page. One of them will describe your actual situation precisely. Start there — the engagement is designed around that specific problem. If more than one resonates, that's worth discussing at the Clarity Call; it usually means the larger engagement is the right design. If none of them precisely fit, book the call anyway. The named engagements are entry frames, not rigid packages.
Do you work with individuals only, or also with business owners and teams?
Both. The individual-focused engagements (AI Operating System Build, Executive Performance Architecture, AI + Longevity Integration, Accountability Sprint) are designed for solo professionals. The team-oriented engagements (Team AI Starter, Business AI Adoption Program) are designed for business owners with 2–15 person teams. The Elite Partnership covers both simultaneously when that's relevant. The Clarity Call determines which frame applies to your situation.
What industries do you work with?
The methodology applies across industries. Past client contexts include hedge fund management, NYT-bestselling authorship, Olympic-track athletics, Fortune 500 executive leadership, small business ownership, and professional services of many kinds. The framework is grounded in cognitive and behavioral science — not industry-specific knowledge — so the primary requirement is that you're a professional whose performance depends on thinking clearly, consistently, and at a level that compounds.
Do I need significant AI experience to work with you?
No. The framework starts from the beginning — dispositional health, epistemic foundations — and builds from there. Some clients arrive having used AI heavily for years and are looking for the architecture underneath their practice. Others arrive having barely started. The entry point in the competency sequence is determined by where you actually are, not where you think you should be. Both starting points are legitimate.
Is this work done in person or remotely?
All engagements are delivered remotely by default. Video sessions, async Voxer support, and written deliverables. The Elite Partnership includes optional in-person quarterly intensives at additional scope — that gets designed at the Clarity Call.
What is Voxer and why do you use it instead of email?
Voxer is an async voice messaging app. It supports voice, text, and photos in a format that's faster than email and doesn't carry the context-switching cost of real-time calls. The reason it's built into every engagement: the most useful support in a coaching relationship often arrives between formal sessions — in the moment a decision needs to be made, or when something isn't working and you want a fast read before you waste time on the wrong path. Voxer makes that kind of support practical. Email isn't fast enough. Scheduling a call isn't proportionate. Voxer is the right tool.
What does "compounds" mean in practical terms?
Every time a coaching engagement produces something — a documented workflow, a mapped decision framework, a calibrated practice, a personal operating system document — that output becomes infrastructure. It continues functioning after the engagement closes. The next client session starts further along because the previous one left something durable behind. "Compounds" means the returns on investment accumulate rather than reset. The opposite is what most AI training produces: a spike of learning that decays to baseline within weeks because nothing structural was built to hold it.
How do the price ranges work?
The named engagements have price ranges (e.g., 5,000–7,500 for the 12-week Main Course tier) because the engagement design is completed at the Clarity Call. Scope determines price. A standard engagement at one configuration costs less than the same engagement with additional sessions, an extended timeline, or a second stakeholder included. The price ranges reflect the realistic design space for each engagement, not arbitrary flexibility. The Clarity Call produces a specific price for a specific design.
ABOUT THE ENGAGEMENTS
What's the difference between the AI Business Audit and the AI Compounding Session?
The Audit is diagnostic. The output is a written assessment: where you are, where the highest-leverage opportunities are, what to do first. It's the right entry point if you're not yet sure what AI can actually do for your specific situation, or if you need a clear-headed outside read before you invest in deeper engagement.
The Compounding Session is implementation. You arrive with a problem or a goal and you leave with a specific deliverable built during the session — a workflow, a prompt architecture, a strategy roadmap. It's for practitioners who already know where they want to go and need structured execution support to get there. If you're uncertain between the two, the Audit comes first.
Can I start with a smaller engagement and move to a larger one later?
Yes, and this is by design. The engagement architecture is meant to be traveled. An Audit can reveal that an Operating System Build is the right next step. A Compounding Session can establish enough foundation that an Executive Performance Architecture makes sense in six months. The progression is always your call — there is no ascension pressure. When the moment is right, you'll know. So will I.
What's included in "Complete AI Mastery Toolkit deployment"?
Every engagement includes a standard deployment of the AI Mastery Toolkit — a structured file system and personal operating environment built for AI collaboration. At the standard level, you receive the toolkit configured for immediate personal use. The customized deployment upsell means the toolkit arrives pre-loaded with data from your specific engagement: your intake information, session context, deliverables, and workflow documentation — so it's ready to use as infrastructure from day one, not a blank template.
What is n8n and why is it an upsell option?
n8n is an open-source workflow automation platform — a visual tool for building automations that connect AI tools, external services, and business workflows without requiring code expertise. It's offered as an upsell (starting at 497) because not every client needs it. For clients who do, the build includes workflow design, full automation build and testing, complete documentation (Framework Design, Specification, Workflow Map, Automation Configuration, Orchestration Protocol), and a live walkthrough. Note: self-hosted n8n requires a VPS; hosting runs 5–$20/month depending on complexity.
What is the Elite community?
Every engagement includes a 30-day (or duration-matched) membership in the Chip Harlow Elite community. It's a place for practitioners who are actively doing this work — sharing wins, asking questions, getting peer feedback. It's not a replacement for the coaching engagement. It's the ongoing community layer that persists after the formal engagement closes. Longer engagements include longer access. Elite Partnership clients have access for the duration of the engagement.
What are the Universal Deliverables I keep seeing in every engagement?
Three deliverables appear in every engagement at every price point:
- CDPID and AI As Experiential Technology Playbook — the epistemic and relational foundation of the methodology. Transitions you from using AI as a tool to integrating it as a cognitive partner. Grounded in published research (DOI: 10.2139/ssrn.6278438).
- AI Integrated Psychology of Longevity Life Assessment & Cognitive Upgrade Protocol — recalibrates your goals, planning framework, and performance architecture on a longevity-science foundation.
- AI Deliberate Practice Routine Design & Integration — research-based daily practice design woven into daily life with AI; engineers maximum time in flow state and optimizes the felt and performed experience of doing your best work.
These aren't bonuses. They are the baseline. Every other deliverable in every engagement sits on top of these three.
What is Executive Performance Architecture and who is it for?
It's the engagement designed specifically for senior professionals whose primary concern is the cognitive substrate of their performance — how they think, decide, sustain focus, and recover under the conditions their role actually creates. It addresses the convergence of AI integration, cognitive performance, and longevity science as a unified system. The typical client profile: a C-suite leader or senior executive who has read the performance and longevity research but has never had it connected into a coherent architecture for their specific situation. If that describes you, this engagement is the right frame.
ABOUT THE AI COMPETENCIES FRAMEWORK
What's the difference between an AI "competency" and an AI "skill"?
A skill is task-specific — the ability to perform a particular task in a particular context. A competency is broader: it combines knowledge, skill, judgment, disposition, and behavioral habit into a durable capacity that applies across contexts and compounds with deliberate development. "Writing an effective prompt" is a skill. "Language and Intent Architecture" — the competency that governs whether your thinking translates accurately into AI outputs, across every type of task you'll ever bring to AI — is a competency. The distinction matters because competencies, unlike skills, don't decay with tool changes. The specific prompt patterns for a given platform change constantly. The competency that governs prompt design transfers.
Why are there fifteen competencies? Does that number mean I have fifteen things to learn?
The fifteen categories reflect the full range of human capacities that bear on AI collaboration quality — derived from published research across cognitive development, AI literacy, trust calibration, and human factors. The number isn't designed to be overwhelming; it's designed to be complete. In practice, not all fifteen are equally underdeveloped for any given practitioner. The Clarity Call identifies which competencies are creating your specific ceiling and where development would create the most immediate leverage. You don't develop all fifteen simultaneously. You start where the gap is.
Do I need to develop all fifteen competencies to get value from this work?
No. Targeted development of two or three competencies that are creating your current ceiling produces substantial, immediate improvement. The long-arc case for developing all fifteen is a different question — it's the 20- and 30-year compounding argument. Over that horizon, which competencies remain underdeveloped matters considerably. In the near term, you develop what your situation requires.
I've been using AI for two or three years. Do the early-stage competencies still apply to me?
Almost always, yes. The early-stage competencies — Psychological Foundations, Epistemic Cognition, Trust Calibration — are consistently the ones most experienced AI users have never deliberately developed. They were skipped because tools were immediately available and productivity gains were immediately visible. The Stage 4 competencies (Metacognitive Awareness, Judgment and Decision-Making) are where experienced users typically surface the most productive gaps — the invisible patterns of delegation and atrophy that accumulate without feedback. "Years of experience" is not the same as "years of deliberate development." That distinction is the starting point for most experienced practitioners.
Is this framework tied to specific AI tools — ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot?
No. The framework is tool-agnostic. It governs the human side of AI collaboration, which does not change with platform. Every AI system you will use for the next twenty years will require calibrated trust, accurate intent transmission, metacognitive monitoring, and ethical judgment. The specific tools will change completely — some of them multiple times per year. The competencies don't.
How long does it actually take to develop these competencies?
Stage 1–3 competencies — the foundations — can be substantially developed within the scope of a shorter engagement. Stage 4–6 competencies require more time, deliberate practice, and feedback. Stage 7–8 competencies — Cognitive Deepening and Integration Mastery — only emerge from extended sustained engagement; they are not outcomes of a 12-week sprint. This is part of why the Elite Partnership exists as a six-month engagement. The honest answer is that the full framework takes years to develop to depth, but meaningful progress at each stage is achievable within the duration of any named engagement.
What is CDPID?
CDPID stands for Collaborative Driven Progressive Intent Discovery — a published framework (DOI: 10.2139/ssrn.6278438) describing the governing model for human-AI co-evolution. The core finding: neither human nor AI ever has complete understanding at the outset. Intent is discovered progressively through collaboration. The implications for how to approach AI interaction — and how AI education should be structured — are significant, and they are the epistemic foundation of this entire coaching practice.
Why does longevity science appear throughout this framework?
Because the human developmental horizon has changed. A 45-year-old today who begins deliberately building AI collaboration competencies has, under current longevity science projections, 30–40 years of high-performance professional life in which those competencies can compound. The cognitive investments made now — and the atrophy risks incurred through undisciplined AI delegation — play out over a different timeframe than previous generations faced. Longevity science changes the math on every human capital investment. That's why it's not a specialty in this work. It's the frame that makes every other competency make sense over time.
Is the AI + Longevity Integration engagement only for people who are already doing formal longevity protocols?
No, but it helps to be familiar with the underlying science — Peter Attia's Outlive is the most common reference point. The engagement is for practitioners who have taken longevity science seriously enough to have implemented some of it, and who are separately using AI seriously — but have never connected the two practices. The gap it addresses is real and specific. If you've done the foundational reading and you sense something is still missing, that's the engagement.
LOGISTICS AND DETAILS
What happens if the engagement isn't producing what I expected?
That conversation happens directly. Every engagement includes async Voxer access throughout — the right moment to surface something that isn't working is when you notice it, not at the next scheduled session. If the engagement design needs adjustment, that's a design conversation, not a conflict. The goal is work that actually produces the outcome the engagement was designed to produce. If something needs to change to get there, that takes priority.
How many clients do you work with at once?
Engagements are capped. Capacity is deliberately bounded — the depth of this work requires that each client gets genuine attention, not allocated attention. The cap also supports the pricing logic: when capacity is the constraint, throughput is not the goal. Current availability is confirmed at the Clarity Call. If there's a waitlist, that's communicated directly.
Can an engagement be paused?
In genuine circumstances, yes. Life interrupts work. The pause terms are specific to the engagement and are discussed during the Clarity Call so expectations are clear before the engagement begins. Routine delays or competing priorities are different from genuine interruptions — the distinction is made case by case.
Do you offer refunds?
Engagements are paid in advance for a reason: the commitment is bilateral. Both parties are clearing their calendar and allocating real capacity. A refund policy exists for cases where the engagement has not yet begun and circumstances change materially. Once the engagement is underway and deliverables are in process, refunds are not standard. The Clarity Call exists in part to ensure both parties are confident the engagement makes sense before the commitment is made.
I want to book, but the timing isn't right for the next few months. What should I do?
Book the Clarity Call anyway. Availability windows fill; the conversation establishes where you are and what the right engagement is; and timing is part of what gets designed during that call. You don't have to start immediately to have the conversation.
